So I’m heading to Hollywood this weekend and I have “backstage” passes to the Raw Lifestyle Film Festival because our film, “Traveling with Living Foods, by Dr. Ann Wigmore” was chosen as a finalist.Last year one of the videos from the Home Study Course won “Honorable Mention” in the Educational category, and I’m pretty confident that this year we can take home the gold!I just heard a rumor that some famous actors like Pamela Anderson and Woody Harrelson might show up.I understand that last year Ben Affleck showed up, so the rumors could be true, but I can’t be for certain.Anyhow, if Woody does show up I’d really enjoy interviewing him about the raw food diet, but I’m not sure exactly what to ask him.I’m thinking, should I ask him what he eats? What brand of blender he uses? What nuts he buys… blah, blah, blah…Frankly, I’m clueless on what to ask him if I get the chance to interview him…

WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD ASK WOODY?*

Leave me a comment on the blog here with the question you think I should ask him.

I’m Clueless, Whats Your Question I Should Ask Woody?(Click here to leave me your comment)

If you don’t know how to leave a comment, my “web guy” made a quick 1 minute video showing you how to leave a comment right here:Video Guide On How To Leave a Blog CommentI’ll pick the best question from the bunch and “hopefully” ask Woody your question. Thanks,Jim “Not the famous actor” CareyP.S. If I’m lucky I may even get some other great interviews with other “famous” raw food actors.*I may not get to interview Woody, but I figured I’d ask you if I did get the chance to interview him.

  1. June Haynes Says:

What inspire you to change to the Vegan lifestyle?
Where you into “healthy” eating prior to this?
Was there any thing significant you saw with love one’s health that encourage this change?

  2. June Haynes Says:

    correction:
Were you into “healthy” eating prior to vegan?

  3. Susan Says:

How has becoming raw affected your personal family relationships? Have others in your family become raw when they have seen what raw has done for you? How about your friends?

  4. Allison Says:

Ask him about health benefits and if he has ever used any of Ann Wigmore’s suggestions (wheatgrass, sprouting). If yes, what differences has he noticed? Wheatgrass obviously hasn’t helped with hair regrowth and it hasn’t turned your hair dark either (but it is thick and shiny, beautiful)! Is he eating raw for personal health, planetary health or both?

  5. Kirsten Says:

Something I have been stressing about lately is how do we get this info out to the massess? Unless someone advocates for themselves or seeks out alternative health and cures there is simply no way for them to know that there is anything better. With the raw diet the goal is optimal health and prevention but when someone gets sick on the SAD diet all they have is surgeries and pills to fall back on. I watched Oprah this week and Simon Cowell was helping a family that had a very sick 3 year old that was fighting cancer. The tears rolled down my cheeks as I watched their story. And then I get so angry because there is no reason for their precious little girl to have to go through that. All they have to do is change her diet and her immune system will take care of the cancer for her. And at the end of her 40 week cancer treatment after she’s lost all her hair and her health is non existant she may die anyways. My local radio show gets the community involved to help ones in similar situations. I have written emails to the radio hosts about alternative treatments and how diet is so important but I have never gotten one response.

So my question for Woddy (or any other prominent figure) would be how do you get this message out to the lay person? Not just the ones that are inclined to see the movie or pick up a book or go to a naturopath!

    Thanks for this forum,
    Kirsten

  6. Colette PAIRAIN Says:

What did this “raw” diet change in your life ?
For example in fields like : health, relationship, feelings, everyday life and so on…
Do you feel like going back to mostly “cooked food” one day ? or does that seem impossible for you ? and why ?

  7. Gloria Says:

What % RAW food plan does he follow?
Does he have any hints as to how to stay RAW while traveling?
Does he have someone else prepare his food?
    Is his entire family RAW?
What does he recommend as the best source of protein?
    Does he take vitamin supplements?
How many times per day does he eat?
How much water per day does he drink?
(Sorry, but I’m really curious on how others work the plan.)

  8. citlalli Says:

How did you transitioned from the sad diet to raw? what trigered it? Was it easy? Did you go cold turkey? Are you 100% raw?

  9. Alivia Says:

About tcommunity gardening and his experience.

Why he chose to return eating a vegan cooked diet over 100% raw, his experience and ideas about both.

  10. Angela Says:

Please ask Woody what he eats and if he has a personal raw foods chef who prepares foods for him. Also, I’d like to know if he is 100% raw. Finally, how does he manage to maintain a raw lifestyle while traveling and maintaining a busy schedule?

  11. Tonya Says:

Ask Woody, “What keeps you from staying on a %100 raw food diet?” “Could he see more celebrities advocating such a diet?”

  12. Rachel White Says:

What brought him to change to Raw Food? Does he call himself a Raw Foodist or a Raw Fooder?
What does his daily meal plan look like?
Is there anything that he forbides to do as far as food combining?
How often does he shop a week for fresh veg and fruit?
How long before he really noticed a difference?
Did he go completely Raw right away or did he ease into it and how did he do either?

  13. Bonnie McLean Says:

well we all know Woodie’s connctions with ‘GREEN’ things
Maybe asking what kind of weeds does he like to juice?

  14. Cynthia Johnson Says:

Ask why he deceided to go raw. How long did it take for him to get where he is today? His favorite raw meal?
What changes did he notice in his health/mental clarity?
Does he prepare his own meals?

  15. kristin Says:

Please ask Woody what proportions of raw and cooked foods he eats and recommends for best results! and what time of day he eats the cooked foods, and if he eats any animal products, and all that…

    Thanks, Kristin

  16. Mark DuBois Says:

I’d like to know what effects he has had from the raw foods diet:

    1. How long has he been on it?

    2. How many meal/day does he eat?

    3. Does he need less food than he did when he was eating non-raw?

    4. Does he need less sleep now?

    5. Does his body temperature adjust more easily now?

    6. How does he deal with food when he is away from home?
i.e. does he hire someone to prepare it all for him!
or does his wife do it? Or what?

    7. Can he describe the process of becoming raw? What steps did he take, and how did his body adjust as it happened?

  17. edmund Says:

    ?
    GENESIS TWO
9] And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil

.[16] And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
[17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

HOW DOES ONE RECOGNIZE THIS TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL??

Very good too to all, another earth citiZen Edmund.

  18. Nancy Riedesel Says:

    Hello Jim:

One thing that I would like to know from someone who has been such an avid raw fooder, is:
    1. What condition have his teeth maintained? (Mine have deteriorated since eating raw foods, and I am seeking answers.)
    2. How is his digestion system? Does he have a problem with foods not digesting properly so that he experiences gas? (I know that’s personal question, but some of us would like to know if this is a common side effect?)
    3. How much water does he feel he needs to drink and does it change according to how much raw foods he eats?
    4. How does he handle invitations to eat out?
    5. How does he manage personal dinner parties at his home?
    6. Does he have his own chef or is he adept at preparing his own foods?
    7. How long has he been raw and to what extent?
    8. What time is his last meal of the day?

    Thanks, Nancy

  19. Monika Says:

Most people are born skeptics, and trying to praise the benefits of raw foods is like trying to tell a stubborn child “Eat your veggies, they’re good for you. Someday you’ll thank me.” My question to him would be:

When someone asks him why he chooses to eat this way, how does he explain it? How does he ‘defend’ his belief that a raw vegan lifestyle is better than cooked or processed foods?

  20. Marilyn Says:

    What are your favorite superfoods?
How do you incoperate them into your diet?

How do you manage to stay raw when traveling and on the set?

Tell me the recipe for your favorite green smoothie.

What is the most energy enhancing thing that you eat?

  21. Chef Melissa Says:

Ok…so here is the deal. Woodly Harrelson is constantly bombarded with sill quetions most of which are probebly the same such as “How long have you been rrrrraw?” or “What is your favorite fruit”.
I would stay away from questions like that. Just like yourself, Woody want to be asked something he has never been asked before or gets a kick out of answering.
Perhaps ask him something like “If stuck on a all fuit island what would you liek to find on the beach”…. or …if elected prez, what would you do different with health care…” You get the Idea.
    xxMelissa

  22. Karen Says:

In your very busy schedule, what are some of the raw “quick eats” ie: On the road, fast grabs, you make for yourself?

  23. Kelly Swanson Says:

Woody said in Raw for Life’s The Ultimate Encyclopedia of the Raw Food Lifestyle DVD that he’s not completely raw, but has at times been 100%. When he or his kids start getting sick, they go completely raw. If that’s the case, how raw is he on a daily basis, and if he believes in it so, why not be completely raw?

  24. M.E. Jones Says:

Did notice a change in your outlook on life when you became raw? How has the effect of this diet spilled over in other areas of your? (Mental, spiritual, physical, social, your acting, your plan for your life?)

    Thanks.

  25. Emily Cantrell Says:

Ask Woody about the ecological implications of eating raw. Ask him about how other celebrities feel about his raw foodism (and wonderful radical views, as well). Ask if he’s converted anyone :).

  26. Bruce Wallace Says:

Ask him if he has read Michael Pollan’s books Omnivore’s Dilemma and In Defense of Food. I found them helpful in understanding the disastrous effects of the Western diet.

  27. ray person & www.raw2go.nl Says:

    dear sir,

I would ask woody what to say to a poor kid who lives in the city where and how to begin the journey to optimum health.

  28. Theodoros Schmidkonz Says:

(1.)Ask him if he has a garden, and:regularly eats whatever is ripe from it?

(2.)Ask him if he is aware of the crucial importance of eating a:”Living Plant Based Diet”?

(3.)Ask him if he has ever experienced:”Total Detoxification”?

  29. Kristine Mestaz Says:

What is a typical day of food like for you?

  30. Laurie Says:

It might be interesting to ask him whether or not he’s noticed any change in perception among his aquaintances regarding his raw food philosophy (ie are people more receptive/accepting now)? Also, if he’s experienced any health issues (negative and/or positive) as a result of his longer term adherence to this way of life? Has he made any changes to his diet as a result of new/changing information that’s surfaced over the years (ex has he tried green smoothies; does he eat simply, or a higher proportion of “gourmet raw”?). What are the major challenges (if any) of being raw in Hollywood?

  31. Janet Gladi Says:

Does he do the green smoothies that are popular now and if so what is his fav=orite green smoothie.

  32. Pam Says:

I would ask him how he feels it’s helped him and if he has a passion to spread the word to people who are suffering?

    PJ

  33. Camille Says:

It would be great to find out what Woody consumes in a typical day and whether or not he takes supplements and superfoods (such as Maca etc).

    Have a rawsome time ;)

  34. Michele Says:

    1. How long has he been raw? Does he waver much in his rawness? Who is his inspiration re rawness? Is his partner raw? How did he become raw? What is his favorite meal/snack? Did he have a transition diet before going raw, or was it an intensive course that kick started him?
    Cheers
    Michele

  35. Spencer4coaching Says:

Woody, what is it that you would be willing to do to help me complete my movie “The Billion Dollar Cure…Equipoise!”? I need to complete the editing and find a distribution channel to distribute this challenge for wellness. Go to spencer4coaching on My Space.com or Care2.com and view the video, World Equipoise #4 Global Health and Wellness I have had the desire for many years and need to complete the project.
The completion will happen this year 2008. Spencer for Peace…Now!!!

How has being changed his life ,what changes did he see and will he stay raw for his whole life?

  37. Kathryn Says:

What was the deciding incident that caused him to go to all raw food. Has he enjoyed it and how has it bettered his life?

  38. Julia Marble Says:

What’s your favorite main meal dish and then which Raw dessert? Favorite Raw Foods cookbook?

  39. bernadette Says:

If they are on the raw food diet! do they juice often and if so, do they use a living juicer? Again, if so, what one do they use? So many people juice but use a common juicer thinking they are doing good and miss out on all that goodness, it may taste fresh and good but is not good enough. Only a living juicer can give you goodness.
Another good question. What is their favourite fresh raw food dish? what flavourings do they use to enhance the dish?

  40. shanthi Says:

frank opinion about his secret behind sucess.the reply may speak volumes.thanks

  41. Beatrice Ironside Says:

Dear Woody, I hear you are a raw food eater. Isn’t it great? I want to know how you find time to grow wheatgrass and make rejuvelac daily and juice energy food and sprout seeds, when you are a busy actor? It is a full time job and I am home all day.But I wouldn’t be doing anything else. I feel so alive

  42. joop Says:

has going raw improved your play
    and if yes, how

  43. Marianna Says:

Ask Woody if he is familiar with Ruth’s hemp products-www.ruthhempfoods.com

  44. Brett Stevenson Says:

Ask him why he became raw and how his transition progressed during the course of his life up until now.

  45. Vikki Says:

I’d like to know how long he’s been interested in the raw food lifestyle; how he does his learning of it (raw retreats? videos? private consultation with professional raw-foodists?); if he is now, or plans to be 100% raw

  46. Jim Says:

Wow! These are some great questions. I’m going to print these out and pick the best ones to ask Woody, if and when I meet him in Hollywood.

Thanks everyone for all the help! :)

    - Jim

  47. Valerie Says:

Please ask Woody how he is able to maintain a raw vegan diet while networking for his career. I know that he must have to attend a lot of lunches, dinners, traveling etc. and I am curious if he is always able to maintain a raw vegan diet.

  48. Hiawatha Cromer Says:

Ask Woody about his experience with raw food. Does he eat green smoothies as a source of protein, if not, then how does he get his protein? Does he eat three meals daily or many mini meals. Some raw foodist eat as many as six meals daily. Does he take supplements, if so, which supplements? Does he eat any cooked food?

  49. Gina Michael Says:

Woody, If it were possible, how would you impact the next generation ( schoolkids) to get them excited and involved in a better way (RAW) of living healthier and happier lives?

  50. Holly Coffman Says:

Hey Jim, first of all THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!!!
Please ask Woody to share how he makes his favorite soup?

  51. Dave Says:

    Hi Jim

Ask Woody if he does any sprouting and how he does it
Also if he grows and drinks Wheatgrass Juice

  52. Meredith Lyons Says:

    Hello,
I would ask Woody what he does to stay young looking and to stay in such great shape. I have seen him in many movies in the past and he doesn’t seem to age. I would ask Woody if his diet has anything to do with it and what he would suggest to others to look and feel great!

    Thanks,
    Meredith Lyons-Marquette, MI

  53. Bartholomew Says:

Ask him, What Vitamix blender he uses?
    And what nuts he buys

  54. Tammy Austin Says:

Relax, choose a few questions that jump out at you and go with it. Everything will work out. Glorias questions seem simple and to the point. I am sure he will add any advice.

  55. Jan Says:

I happen to know a friend who lives in Malibu..near Paradise Cove, who attended a dinner party, that Woody was attending as well!
she has not reponded to my question as to what he ate at this party.
But do know they had a grill full of many different kinds of meat…
    Did he eat any??
If not? Did he say a word about why he did not??
or did he just keep quite and play nice??

Just sent this to a Atkins diet fan..:o(

Beginning with this startling and unsettling set of facts, Jeremy Rifkin interweaves anthropology, history, sociology, economics, and ecology in a brilliant and devastating examination and indictment of the cattle culture that has come to shape and warp our world.

Every question I’ve thought of is already on here…have a wonderful time…I can’t wait to hear all about it!

    Sandee

  57. dawn Says:

    HOW DO YOU FEEL WOODY?

  58. Mark DuBois Says:

How do you deal with temptation of cooked food? Any tips on ways to resist?

  59. Elaine Says:

This is probably being asked over and over - how do you stay raw and be “out there”. That’s the most difficult thing - to have a social life and still be raw!

  60. Jane Macdonald Says:

how do these people, like Woody, who are often on the road, maintain raw diet without staff who exist to feed them?…or do they always have a dedicated raw food chef in tow?

  61. Bartholomew Says:

Ask them what their plans are to librate the American people from junk food?

  62. Kimberly Smith Says:

Ask Woody what’s best in his life these days…what really gets most of his attention and what he thinks is the most exciting thing happening on the Planet right now and what his vision for the next 5 or so years is?
You could ask him too what inspires him and or makes him feel most ALIVE…!

  63. clara mitmesser Says:

How long has he been 100% raw (if he is) What changes in his health and energy does he experience when and if he eats any cooked food? What changes in his overall body and mind condtion did he experience when he first switched to 100% raw? I like Hiawatha’s questions. Does he have a support group?

  64. catherine Says:

what is a typical day like for you?

  65. paul murray Says:

Is Hollywood ready for a film/documentary about someone going 30/60/90 days raw? Will Woody issue a challenge to Michael Moore - both us 30/60 or 90 days raw? And film it all!

    Paul Murray

  66. Julie Says:

    1. How does Woody eat healthy while traveling and working?

    2. Also, does he know Patrick Swayze? Has Patrick discovered raw food to help his body? Is it uncool to tell someone “raw it what you need.” (instead of just living the example of vibrant health and hoping they will catch on)

    3. I agree with what someone else said about getting the message of raw live food to the masses - and also getting it out to the masses without looking like a radical and thus closeing their minds to it.

  67. Alivia Says:

What is Woody’s idea on 100% raw versus other diets. His ideas on supplements.

  68. Alivia Says:

    Have an incredible time.

  69. patrick farrell Says:

    Dear Woody,
Patrick Farrell here.I have been a fan since Cheers

I have the funds and a desire to create a superior health retreat/rehab/raw food getaway in northern New Mexico.Right food, clean air, hiking until your heart pounds in your chest, kayaking, exploring, etc.
Seems it would be better than “Promises” which leaves little for actual transformation.
Any interest in making that happen?

  70. B. G. Johns Says:

I would immagine bassed on your book “go further”, as well as some of the reading that I have done on your website “voice yourself”, that you are against vacinations for children (and adults for that matter), my question is this, do you have any recomendations for parents of children that have not been vacinated, and are planning on traveling internationally, as well as for parents who elect on not having the recomended vaccinations befor travel. Thank you, and Many Blessings.

Could you please tell him that my group from Moosehead Lake, Maine would like him to come visit. We will be sending out a letter to him tomorrow. We are fighting the largest landowner in the US, Plum Creek Timber Company.
    Thank you, Joan Wisher

  72. Betty Shonley Says:

Enjoy reading your comments. Have you read the book : Prevent abd Reverse Heart Didease by Caldwell B. Esselstyne, Jr. MD. It is very enlightening and I applaude all who are trying to get the health message accross.

  74. Clara Brayton Says:

Has eating raw foods affected you spiritually? Do you have any specific examples you care to share? Has your personal health improved by eating raw? What do you eat in a typical day?

  75. Meralyn Stewart Says:

Ask him what changes he has noticed in his health since being on the raw diet.

  76. susan kelly Says:

I would ask him what %raw is he, how he sticks with the diet with his lifestyle. What impact has it had on his career. What can he and other celebrities do to inform the public of the dangers of S.A.D. Is he able to do something to promote organic farming or have an influence on the Farm Bill.
With money and prestige much can be accomplished so I would be grateful to know how and if he would be willing to help lead our country toward a more vegetarian diet with emphasis on raw. If he could be a spokesperson it would be wonderful.
Wish I could go with you!

  77. Shar Lee Says:

What measureable differences in his overall health has he had since being on the raw food died.

  78. joy Says:

Woody, inquiring minds want to know, do you only take on lovers who eat raw, if so here’s my contact info.. 5′2″ 31 year old blue-eyed redhead 105 lbs. raw-dette :) wink wink

  79. Elaine Lembo Says:

Does he eat all organic foods?

What does he feel are the most important foods to
    eat everyday?

Does he believe that our potentially terminal illnesses such as cancer, are do more to the cooked foods we eat then anything else in our environment?

How would he get a child, who is in grade school,to
stay on a raw foods diet? There is so much peer pressure.

    Elaine

  80. Pamela Says:

Ask him if quiet stillness and virility has accompanied and his switch to raw food.

  81. Margaret Says:

I would ask him what protocol he follows, i.e., if he is 80/10/10, Ann Wigmore, natural hygiene, or “just raw food that tastes good or appeals to me” or “what my paid raw chef delivers”.

that is the only thing that most people would probably be curious about… if they could articulate it. I mean, if he came out for any one particular protocol, there would be 12 books there tomorrow.

This is the same question would ask Madonna (who has said that she is raw) — I feel fairly certain that she probably does not know what kind of raw… in her defense, I think most people probably don’t have a religion.

still, that is what I would ask. that is the only thing that would interest me.

  82. Audrey Says:

    Woody,
Do you feel your stand as a vegan will speak to other actors who are looking for answers about their health, like Patrick Swayze? I wish he knew what you were doing and many of us so he could really show others that taking a stand on how we eat can really change alot of things in our life.

Thank you for standing out big for real health.

    Audrey

  83. Yvonne Says:

It is late at night. No raw food recipies are made. You can only eat vegetables and they are minimal. What would you eat if you were hungry?

Also, what if it were real cold out and you wanted hot food? What would you eat?

  84. Melinda Says:

I recently saw an interview with Woody stating that he wasn’t 100% raw, but when anyone in his family got sick, they knew that it was a sign that they had to clean up their eating.

He seems to have a healthy dose of raw in his life.

Funny, I met him 20 years ago in Vancouver after a celebrity hockey game. He had a huge impact on how I viewed the world then (we had quite the philosophical talk), and now, he was one of the first people I knew of who ate mostly raw and started me down this path.

Could you ask him if he finds it easy or difficult to get his children to eat raw foods? What types of raw foods do his children like the best?

If he is ever in Vancouver, we should meet up at Gorilla Foods for a living foods meal by Aaron. Yum.

Good luck, I hope that you are able to contact and interview him. He’s an amazing guy!

    Melinda

  85. Marianna Says:

Hi Woody, are you familiar with Sara’s Hemp products?

  86. Geraldine Says:

    Hi Jim,
After the introductions, and your fabulous testimony on the living foods lifestyle, maybe you could let Woody take the lead and offer comments he feels he wants to share.
    Enjoy your visit!
