arrow  Growing Your Own Greens - a True Living Food

by Dr. Flora van Orden III

The neatest things about living foods is that the baby greens are so easy to grow and you don't need a garden outside, just some cafeteria trays and 1" of dirt and organic seeds and perhaps a grow light if you have no windows because you don't need direct sunlight, even though that's a plus, just indirect.

That's why Dr. Wigmore began her Institute in Boston, to prove that it was easy to get well and stay well in a cesspool of pollution.  I couldn't walk outside in Boston in sandals because of the acid rain or dew which would burn my feet, like they did in Puerto Rico when I walked on the sand (residue from Agent Orange).

arrow  Jim's Report on Maui

Maui was wonderful, superb, excellent, fantastic! I've been all over the world - 49 countries, 49 States, but my trip to Maui this month was the most wonderful experience I've ever had.

The scenery is breathtaking, and the people are happy and friendly. Best of all is that so many people actually understand about Living Foods, or at least know about the raw food diet. Most of the people I met were vegans, and when they learned I was a Living Fooder they had lots of well-though-out questions about my lifestyle. Very receptive they were to the idea, too. Most had heard about Living Foods, and were very interested in making the transition from Vegan to Raw.

Almost every town on the island has an Organic market with a fresh-daily buffet. My sister, Carol, (who introduced me to Living Foods) and I made smoothies for breakfast. For lunch we'd walk the 3 short blocks to the market, and buy a tray of fresh, living foods and take it back home. The leftovers we had for supper.

For a change-of-pace we'd walk to the end of Carol's street and enjoy the Vietnamese Vegan Restaurant, rated "Best Vegan Restaurant on Maui." They, too, prepared us a wonderful raw repast.

Every day she took me on a different tour. Come lunchtime, there was always an Organic market right there, whatever town we were in. I was 100% raw for a week, while eating "fast food." Absolutely awesome! I dream about the day the all of the mainland is this way.

So, yes, I'll be opening a Creative Health Institute on Maui. I'll be moving over there in February and the center will open in April.

How as the earthquake in HI? I'm curious how the news reported it vs. you being there.

----------------------------------------------------------

Sunday morning I was walking in the lowlands of downtown Paia, Maui, 1/2 block from the ocean, at 7:07 am, and heard the earthquake more than felt it.

There was a big, deep “BOOM” and a quick gust of wind. Others higher up felt the earthquake more. Carol, 5 blocks up the hill, rocked on her bed for 20 seconds. Friends farther upcountry had a more serious rocking and rolling.

Brad came rushing down the mountain and told of watching a semi tractor rig and a big bulldozer on his property rock back and forth for 20 seconds or more. He was sitting in his VW van and thought at first that 6 big guys had snuck up on him and were trying to roll the van. Then he saw the equipment rocking and realized what was happening.

Other friends farther upcountry had their shelves emptied, as did upcountry supermarkets. Everybody reported a 20-second rocking and rolling. Many heard the same low BOOM that I did, and felt the sudden wind gust; things the media never reported.

Power was out in Paia for about 3 hours - enough time for me to spend $258 on non-perishable food at the Organic market, the only market in Paia with a generator. My Florida training cut in - I headed straight back to Carol's after the quake, and we were at the market when it opened at 8. We laid in a large supply of food while everybody else was still sharing their experiences.

By 9 am the market was packed, and by 1 P.M. they were wiped almost bare, I'm told. Power was restored around 10:30 or 11, and the town was back to normal by Monday morning. Anyhow, Carol's kitchen is now well-provided for.

Air traffic disruptions happened mainly in Oahu, where the airport had power, but not enough power for the TSA security x-ray machines. Thus, everybody was stuck for about 24 hours. On Maui that didn't happen. I flew out on schedule Tuesday afternoon.

People took it quite well. The media tended to sensationalize the damage, and had to look hard to find it, it was so scattered. Carol and I drove to the top of the Haleakala Volcano Crater later that morning, and saw other motorists roll a boulder out of the road.

It happened to be National Guard weekend, and the Guard immediately jumped in their choppers to locate landslides, etc. But in 99% of the cases, by the time the Guard had dispatched a cleanup squad the citizens had already cleared the roads. As far as I know, there were only a few places that needed heavy equipment to clear the landslides.

I saw several people out with brooms, clearing the roads. No deaths, no injuries. Since the media reported that correctly, and since cell phone circuits were heavily loaded all day, I saw no need to call home to say I was OK.

One tip that I learned from others: Do NOT try to run from a quaking building. You'll just stagger all over the rolling floor. I heard some rather comedic stories. In the future, we'll CRAWL out of the building, or under something substantial.

Backsliding but progressing is NOT about feeling guilty about slipping. Even if you weren't 100% raw this week, how much better are you feeling than when you were on the SAD?

Hi Jim,

I enjoyed the teleclass - it was fun, thanks for doing that! [http://rawlivingfoods.typepad.com/1/2006/10/jims_internet_r.html]

I am really enjoying the course - It means so much to me that you put all this information together, so I can buy it and have it show up on my doorstep. Thank you so much! I have been wanting to go to a raw food retreat for some time and just couldn't afford taking the time out  - (and what to do with my doggie?!) (my dog likes the kale and papaya green smoothie I make!).

I had been reading books, researching the Internet, trying things on my own, etc. But all this great information in your program, my gosh, I could never have done it on my own.

I also started a web site and blog just for fun and I added links to your site and blog (if that's okay). It's www.rawcitylife.com.

I'm making up recipes and taking photos of everything I make. Its new, so there's not much on it, but when my friends ask about the Raw Food lifestyle I just send them to my links page!

Thanks for all of your hard work, my life is changed forever.

Hey Jim,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me find an answer for this, and referring my query to some pretty amazing people. I really appreciate all you have done helping to answer our questions. I know that one day I will make a trip over to America and I can thank you in person.

I looking forward to a response from Dr. Flora van Orden. I will look up her details, anyone who worked with Dr. Ann Wigmore is fine by me. I am reading another of Ann's books at the moment and I really wish I could have met her, she is so inspiring!

Thanks again for the support you are offering, it is easy to feel a little like a lone voice in the wilderness here in New Zealand and my correspondence with you is a great boost to my belief in what I am doing.

Have a brilliant day!

Cheers, Kathy

arrow  Dr. Flora Discusses Cancer

A letter Dr. Flora asked me to share with as many as possible:

I'm so excited to see how you've grown, Paul.

I need to correct you on one little point. Dr. Ann never went to the Hippocrates West Palm Beach facility. People were told that she was coming many times, but she never did. She went to her Institute (The Instituto de Ann Wigmore in Aguada, Puerto Rico) and to Boston, and we travelled to many other places where she gave talks, but not to WPB. That is Brian's.

I need to ask your help (not only for you to sit down when you eat!).  I just had to helplessly watch my 46 year old daughter die from the way she was treated at the National Cancer Institute at NIH.  She had asked me to promise that I not say anything to the doctors at all, not one thing, and I did what she asked, and had to go into the TV room and cry and bawl when I saw how bravely she tried to continue to believe in them, until her doctor told her, "Sherri, what have we done to you?" and she then said, "Mom, I'm going to have to do this myself.  They don't know what they are doing."

There were some OK foods on the list, but most of them were mucus producing and caused the body to go into an auto-immune reaction, like tomato (which fruit contain malonic acid which lowers the immune system and prevents amylase and protease utilization as well as being an inflammatory agent) soup with milk and salt in it, and even though watermelon was on the list, there was never any available.  I had to go where the doctors ate to buy some and bring it up to her room.  She had been given permission to have her family make the energy soup, a juicer and blender were available, but she wanted to make sure that it didn't interfere with anything on the medical protocol, and because some of what was given to her had grain in it, the enzymes in the soup resulted in gas/distention/bloating and so the soup was discontinued (not the grain that was causing the problem).

The major problem I saw was of a lack of knowledge about the body being able to heal itself, a lack of understanding about the side effects of certain drugs by the doctors.  Her doctor didn't know, for instance, that Bactrin (a drug that made her blister as if she had a 3rd degree burn all over her arms and face) was banned in England, a drug that is available over the counter here in the U.S.  He was unaware that she should have been tested for sulfa allergy before being given that.  These doctors need help to understand the healing process so that they won't fight so hard against it.

The room was too cold (not as cold as other hospital rooms I've been in visiting people) for her to sweat (needs 85 degrees to heal, as Dr. Wigmore knew), and the sheets were not 100% cotton so that she could sweat into them.  Her clothes were not 100% cotton either.  One of the precipitating factors was that she wore a bra 24 hours a day, and this has been found to cause cancer because of the lack of circulation in the breast area.  Another was that they were rubbing her with a lotion (petroleum distillate derivative) that was clogging up her pores and not allowing her to sweat. Another was that she had a cell phone with her almost constantly.

The most important thing that they didn't know was that a fever is not always caused by infection. The body, if the immune system is working at all, will increase it's temperature to melt fat/mucus that is in the way, clogging up or decreasing the flow of lymph, blood, and electricity. This is not something to be fought against, but encouraged, and all I saw were people, well meaning but innocently ignorant, frantically trying to 'kill' this 'enemy' fever.

After working side by side with Dr. Wigmore for over 2 decades, I had learned that cancer was nothing to worry about.  Every 2 weeks I watched the cancer patients getting well.  They were amazed it was so simple.  They just starved the illness to death by only feeding the cells living food which would generate life in a form (blended or juiced) which would be easily assimilated; they killed it by the use of freshly made wheat grass juice implants, fresh air, natural clothing, sunlight and positive thoughts and words, using a skin brush, loofa and trampoline to keep the lymphatic system clean, etc.  The dissemination of this knowledge needs to be speeded up and focused on the key pivot people in the medical field now.

I need some of you men and women who are expressing themselves so clearly to begin a conversation with the leaders of the National Cancer Center in Bethesda.  God will lead you to the manner and as to the timing, but these men are frantic as they see only 2 of their hundreds of participants live, and the rest die.  The human guinea pigs included my daughter. Our living food way is so easy and they are ready for it now.  If you could have seen the looks on their faces as they stood at the end of my daughter's bed and looked at the blisters that were popping into one another, you would know that they are panicked and frustrated and numbed by the numbers of deaths.  Someone who has the voice to help them needs to tactfully yet forcefully get this information to them so that they can try it, come to the places where it is being done properly, if there is any place left.  This life-saving information cannot be just part of an 'underground railroad' but needs to be mainstream in every language of the world.

When my daughter was first diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma a decade ago, she promised God that she would use whatever time was given her to make sure that her son knew he was loved, and she did that.  Her life was not in vain.  I want her death not to be in vain and you, and friends like Vic, Valery, Neal, Brian, Gabriel, Brenda, Mike, Jim, Steven and others, I pray, will join you in this most important life-generating information up-load.

This will be the most important 'lobbying' effort you will ever be involved in.  This will take courting the leaders (and their wives or whoever they sleep with) of the medical/nutritional field, choosing those who are tired of killing people and brave ones, who are not afraid to use their reputations and 'names' to step out and be counted by using something that helps not hurts.  These brave doctors I saw are desperate for answers and the drugs are not supplying them.  You can make a difference, not for my daughter, but perhaps for your own daughter, some day in the future.  Think globally, not nationally. The only enemy now is ignorance.  Remember reading how Pasteur wrote that he had made such a mistake running after ways to kill germs because he realized on his deathbed that it wasn't the germs that were the problem, it was the mucus/culture into which the germs fell, finding substance to reproduce and 'take over'.  Think how this information can be used in Africa, in Russia, in every country that battles the rise in illness since altered oils/fats and insecticides and pesticides have been imported into them.

You can make the difference, with God's help.  Please continue to be one of God's angels to spread the living word.

Peace and love,
Flora

Eating Your Way to Better Health - Stefan Aschan believes that proper nutrition is the only way to support your ultimate goal of improved physical and mental performance, productivity, well-being and appearance. In order to function at 100% of your mental and physical capabilities, you must eat what the earth has provided you. By that he means: eat as close as possible to the earth. Free Hugs Campaign - I once heard that human beings need at least 4 hugs per day. More than four is nice, but fewer leaves us feeling deprived. Human touch is very special, yet, somehow, society has been engineered so that the "proper" thing is to isolate from other people and deny our need for human interaction and touch. My world vision is this: more hugs. Let's suspend our sense of independence and try interdependence instead, shall we? Have you had your daily dose of hugs today? With that said, I invite you to watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr3x_RRJdd4. - Here's to love beyond measure, deep satisfaction, and child-like joy in this moment... Cool Weather Favorites

CHILI Recipe
- by Tim Trader and Laurie Master
Serves 4 when served with a simple salad

3 cups tomatoes, diced small
2 cups of red bell peppers, diced small
3/4 cup zucchini, chopped
1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes

Combine 2 cups of tomatoes and 1 cup of bell pepper with sun dried tomatoes and zucchini in the blender. Blend well. Place remaining diced tomatoes and bell peppers into four serving bowls, then pour blended mixture on top. Serve immediately.

Optional: For a more authentic, "chili" taste, you may add 1/4 teaspoon cumin and 1/4 cup of diced onion. Try it first as is, then add if you would like.... enjoy.

[Janee said to blend the tomatoes, red bell pepper and zucchini first and then the sun dried tomatoes.]

----------------------------------

BLT Recipe
- by David Klein

6 large lettuce leaves
1/2 cup of Brazil nuts, soaked and ground
1 oz. of sun dried tomatoes, soaked
1/4 cup of pine nuts, soaked
1 slice large tomato
1 thin slice of sweet onion (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Drain soaked sun dried tomatoes, then blend with ground Brazil nuts.
Add water as needed to make a workable mixture. Form the tomato mixture into a patty. Janee said the Brazil nuts and sun dried tomatoes taste like bacon.

Place the patty on 3 leaves. Drain, rinse and blend pine nuts. Add water as needed to create a creamy consistency. Spoon the pine nut mixture over the patty. The pine nuts act like a mayonnaise. Top with the tomato slice, sliced onion and 3 leaves of lettuce. Enjoy.

If you don't have pine nuts you can always use cashews instead.
